Fredrik Ljungkvist är en av Sveriges mest innovativa och internationellt respekterade musiker i den unga svenska jazzvåg som på några år gjort Sverige till en av Europas dominerande jazznationer. Med sitt lyhörda saxofon och klarinettspel visar han likt Coltrane, Coleman och Ayler upp ett gigantiskt spann från det innerligaste och mest lågmälda till en sylvass intensitet.

Fredrik Ljungkvist har medverkat på fler än 60 album. Han har som musiker fått den prestigefulla Jazzkatten vid tre tillfällen och som gruppmedlem både vunnit och nominerats ytterligare ett antal gånger. Han var den första jazzmusiker att nomineras till DN:s kulturpris 2010 och Fredriks mer regelbundna grupper är norsk/svenska Atomic, Yun Kan 5 och Yun Kan 10 där hans egen musik är i fokus.

Fredrik Ljungkvist har under mer än 20 år turnerat på klubbar, konserthallar och festivaler över hela världen med grupper och musiker som Per Henrik Wallin, Axel Dörner, Ken Vandermark Territory Band, Bobo Stenson, Marylin Crispell, Mats Gustafsson, LSB, Atomic/Schooldays, Anders Jormin, Sten Sandell med flera. Fredrik är bosatt i Stockholm.
